That's good for the environment.
-Save more than 80% electricity
-Big savings on hardware, computers , so less manufacturing materials.
-Less recycling
-Less packaging, transportation of computers and hardware.
-No cd's/dvd's and packaging of several different software suppliers.
-Ubuntu needs less computer-power.
Ecological on manufacturing computers:
| Fabrication | Multiseat for 8 users | 8 desktop computers | eco savings |
|
Electricity(kWh) |
1720 |
15760 |
14040Kwh |
Ecological savings on producing electricity + CO2 expels
| Usage/year | Multiseat for 8 users | 8 desktop computers | eco savings |

Electricity(kWh) |
596.90Kwh |
5547.69KWh |

Researchers found that manufacturing one desktop computer and 17-inch CRT monitor uses at least 240 kg of fossil fuels, 22 kg of chemicals and 1,500 kg of water – a total of 1.8 tonnes of materials.
This a study of the United Nations University, read it here.
Needless to say what environmental advantages multiseat computersharing can have when you can do the same computer tasks with one computer instead of multiple computers.
